Hi, I'm Stephanie.

I am a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years experience. I completed my Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work at McMaster University. I have worked in hospital and community settings including Maternal Newborn, Paediatrics, Oncology, Palliative Care, Children's Mental Health and Family Health Teams.

Over the years, I have completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectal Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems and  Emotionally Focused Therapy. I have also studied Polyvagal Theory in Practice, Fundamentals in Trauma, Adult Attachment and Self-Compassion in Practice.

I provide psychotherapy and counselling to adults who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. Issues that might contribute to these symptoms include relationship or work stress, interpersonal conflict, low self-esteem, life transitions, trauma and/or grief and loss. I have a special interest in working with parents who are either planning pregnancy, pregnant, postpartum or experiencing a loss.

My practice is client-centered, attachment and trauma informed. I strive to offer you a warm, compassionate space to explore what might be troubling you. Our work together is collaborative and based on your therapy needs and goals.

I am a member in good standing with both the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). â€‹

Individual Therapy

Many people seek support to gain clarity on a particular issue or concern. Having a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings can help you better understand yourself and provide insight into patterns that might contribute to stress in your life.

While recognizing your strengths, I will help you develop awareness and coping strategies that promote emotional wellness.

Our work together is collaborative and based on goals you might wish for yourself.

Couples Therapy
Virtual & in-person availabl

Sustaining a connected relationship over time can be difficult and most couples experience challenges with intimacy and/or communication at some point. Seeking support can help to better understand patterns that might leave you feeling stuck.

Our family of origin and attachment histories influence how we engage in relationships. Exploring this can help us to better understand patterns, both positive and negative. Negative patterns will leave couples feeling frustrated and disconnected.

My goal is to help you to navigate these patterns differently and in so doing, leave you both feeling more connected and healing past relational wounds.

Perinatal Counselling & Support
Virtual & in-person available

I have a special interest in supporting parents who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or postpartum or might be dealing with fertility issues or pregnancy loss.

Welcoming a baby can be exciting and at the same time leave you feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety are not uncommon and seeking support can help parents feel less alone & isolated.

Suffering a pregnancy loss can be devastating at any stage. It's not uncommon for parents to have different grief responses. It is important to understand how to best support one another to help with healing and recovery.
